Upgrading or Changing Your Plan
This article walks you through switching to a different plan in Dental Marketing Tool and explains how the pricing change is handled mid-cycle so you know exactly what to expect on your next invoice.
When to Change Your Plan
You might move to a higher plan because your practice is growing and you want access to more features, additional staff seats, or higher usage limits. You might also step down to a lower plan during a slower season or after reviewing what your team actually uses day to day. Either direction is supported, and the change takes effect immediately.
How Proration Works
Dental Marketing Tool bills on a monthly subscription cycle. When you change plans in the middle of a cycle, the platform calculates a prorated credit for the unused days on your current plan and applies that credit toward the cost of your new plan.
- If you upgrade to a higher plan, you will see a prorated charge for the difference. This is added to your account and collected on your next billing date or immediately, depending on your billing settings.
- If you downgrade to a lower plan, the unused portion of your current plan is credited toward future charges. You will not receive a cash refund, but the credit reduces what you owe on the next renewal.
How to Change Your Plan
- Log in to your Dental Marketing Tool dashboard and click Settings in the left menu.
- Select Billing from the Settings menu.
- On the Billing page, locate your current plan under the Subscription section and click Change Plan.
- Browse the available plans. Each plan shows what is included so you can compare features and limits side by side.
- Click Select on the plan you want to move to.
- Review the confirmation screen. It will show your prorated credit or charge before anything is finalized.
- Click Confirm Change to apply the new plan.
Your plan updates immediately. You will receive a confirmation email and any related charge or credit will appear in your invoice history.
What Changes Right Away
As soon as the plan change is confirmed, your account reflects the new plan's feature set and limits. If you upgraded, any features or capacity you gained are available immediately. If you downgraded, limits may be reduced right away, so it is worth reviewing your active automations, staff seats, and usage to make sure nothing is cut off unexpectedly.
Reviewing the Charge or Credit
After the change, you can confirm the prorated amount by visiting your invoice history. The adjustment will appear as a line item on your current or upcoming invoice. If you have questions about how a specific amount was calculated, the Understanding Your Subscription article explains how billing cycles and renewal dates work.
Next Steps
Once your plan is updated, make sure your payment method on file is current so your next renewal goes through without interruption. See Updating Your Payment Method for instructions. If you are considering canceling rather than changing plans, the Pausing or Canceling Your Account article covers your options.
