Setting Your Ad Budget
Setting the right daily budget is one of the most important decisions you make before launching an ad. This article walks you through how budget settings work in Dental Marketing Tool and what spending levels you can realistically expect to produce results for your practice.
Where to Set Your Budget
When you build a campaign through Dental Marketing Tool, the budget field appears during the campaign setup flow. After you select your offer and creative, you will reach the Budget and Schedule step. Enter your desired spend in the Daily Budget field. The platform runs your ad continuously and charges your connected ad account at roughly that amount each day. There is no weekly or monthly cap setting at this stage; the daily number is the one lever you control.
Choosing a Starting Budget
There is no single right number, but there are ranges that tend to work for most dental practices. Think of it in three tiers.
- Getting started ($10 to $20 per day). A modest starting point. Good for testing a new offer or a new geographic area. Expect slower results and a smaller reach, but it lets you see whether your creative and targeting are dialed in before you commit more.
- Active growth ($25 to $50 per day). The range where most practices see a consistent flow of new patient inquiries. The ad platform has enough budget to find your audience and optimize delivery over time.
- Aggressive schedule filling ($75 or more per day). Appropriate when you have several open chairs to fill or are promoting a high-value service like implants or Invisalign. Higher budgets reach more of your local area and tend to produce faster volume.
If you are unsure where to start, pick the lower end of the range for your situation and let it run for at least seven days before drawing conclusions. Ad platforms need time to find the people in your area most likely to call or book.
What to Expect at Different Spend Levels
More budget does not simply mean a proportional increase in new patients. A few factors shape your results beyond raw spending.
- Your offer. A strong, specific offer (a discounted first exam, a free consultation for a specific service) pulls better than a generic "schedule today" message regardless of budget. See Choosing the Right Offer for Your Ad for guidance here.
- Your targeting area. Practices in dense metro areas have more potential patients to reach with the same budget. Rural areas may need a wider radius to hit enough people. You can adjust this under Targeting Your Local Area.
- Your creative. The image or video and the headline are the first things someone sees. A great creative at a modest budget often outperforms a mediocre creative at a high one.
- Speed of follow-up. Your ad budget can bring someone to your inbox or phone number, but results depend heavily on how quickly your front desk responds. The practices that see the best return are the ones calling or texting back within a few minutes.
Adjusting Your Budget After Launch
You can raise or lower your daily budget at any time without stopping the campaign. Open the Ads section from the main menu, find the active campaign, and click Edit. Update the Daily Budget field and save. Changes typically take effect within a few hours.
Avoid making large budget swings (like tripling or cutting to a third overnight) because sudden changes can cause the ad platform to reset its delivery optimization. Incremental adjustments of 20 to 30 percent at a time tend to keep performance more stable.
Reading the Numbers Over Time
After your campaign has been running for at least a week, check the results dashboard to see how your budget is translating into reach, clicks, and patient contacts. Dental Marketing Tool shows this in plain terms inside the campaign view so you can decide whether to stay the course or make changes. For a full walkthrough of what each metric means, see Reading Your Ad Results.
Once you are comfortable with how your budget is performing, a natural next step is reviewing your ad creative to see whether a refresh could improve results. Head over to Using Ad Templates and Creatives to explore your options.
