Connecting Your Facebook Page and Ad Account

Before you can run ads through Dental Marketing Tool, you need to connect two Facebook assets: your practice's Facebook Page and a Facebook Ad Account. This guide walks you through both connections so you are ready to launch your first campaign.

What You Need Before You Start

Take a moment to confirm you have these items in place. Missing any one of them is the most common reason the connection does not complete.

  • A Facebook account that has admin access to your practice's Facebook Page
  • A Facebook Ad Account (separate from your personal profile) with a valid payment method on file in Meta
  • Admin or manager access to that Ad Account inside Facebook Business Manager (Meta Business Suite)
Note Facebook requires that the person connecting the accounts holds at least Admin-level access on both the Page and the Ad Account. If you receive a permissions error during the steps below, ask whoever manages your Facebook Business Manager to grant you that access first.

Step 1: Connect Your Facebook Page

  1. From your Dental Marketing Tool dashboard, open the Settings menu in the left navigation bar.
  2. Click Integrations.
  3. Find the Facebook section and click Connect next to Facebook Page.
  4. A Facebook login window will open. Sign in with the Facebook account that has admin access to your practice's Page.
  5. When prompted, select your practice's Facebook Page from the list and click Continue.
  6. Review the permissions Facebook requests and click Done. These permissions allow the platform to post on your behalf and manage ad activity.
  7. Once the window closes, you should see your Page name displayed under the Facebook section with a green connected status.
Tip If you manage multiple Pages in Facebook, make sure you select the correct practice Page during Step 5. Selecting the wrong Page will not cause an error, but your ads will run under the wrong identity and will need to be reconnected before launch.

Step 2: Connect Your Facebook Ad Account

Connecting the Page and connecting the Ad Account are two separate steps inside the platform. Complete Step 1 first, then continue here.

  1. Still inside Settings > Integrations, locate the Facebook Ad Account row.
  2. Click Connect Ad Account.
  3. A dialog will display the Ad Accounts your Facebook login has access to. Select the Ad Account you want to use for this practice.
  4. Click Save. The platform will verify the connection and display the Ad Account name and ID when successful.
Heads up Your Facebook Ad Account must have a payment method saved in Meta before ads can go live. If Meta has not verified billing on that account, your campaigns will stay in a pending state even after the connection is complete. Log into Meta Business Suite to confirm your payment method is active.

Verifying the Connection

After both assets are connected, return to Settings > Integrations and confirm you see:

  • Your Facebook Page name with a green status indicator
  • Your Ad Account name and numeric ID listed below it

If either shows a red or disconnected status, see Fixing a Disconnected Integration for step-by-step troubleshooting guidance.

Common Issues

The Ad Account I need is not showing up

The account dropdown only shows Ad Accounts where you have admin or advertiser access. Ask your Facebook Business Manager admin to add your personal Facebook profile to the correct Ad Account, then try the connection again.

I connected the wrong Page by mistake

Click Disconnect next to the Facebook Page inside Integrations, then repeat Step 1 and select the correct Page. Any campaigns already launched under the wrong Page will need to be recreated.

I do not have a Facebook Ad Account yet

You will need to create one inside Meta Business Suite before returning to this step. Meta's setup process asks for a business name, time zone, and currency. Once the account is created and a payment method is added, come back and complete Step 2 above.

You Are Ready to Run Ads

With your Facebook Page and Ad Account both connected, the platform can create and manage campaigns on your behalf. Your next step is to launch your first ad campaign, where you will pick an offer, set a budget, and choose your target area.
