Fixing a Disconnected Integration
If your Facebook or Google connection shows a warning, stops syncing, or you notice that messages and reviews are no longer flowing in, this article walks you through reconnecting each integration quickly so your practice gets back to normal.
Why Integrations Disconnect
Connections between Dental Marketing Tool and outside accounts rely on a secure permission token. That token can expire or become invalid for a few common reasons:
- You changed your Facebook or Google account password.
- You revoked the app's access from inside Facebook or Google settings.
- Your Facebook Page admin role changed or was removed.
- The connection simply timed out after a long period of inactivity.
When any of these happen, the platform loses its ability to act on your behalf, and you will usually see a red warning banner or a "Reconnect" prompt on the Integrations Overview page.
How to Check Your Integration Status
- From the main menu, click Settings, then open the Integrations tab.
- Look for any connection that shows a red or yellow status indicator, or a button labeled Reconnect or Reauthorize.
- Note which integration is affected (Facebook, Google, or both) before proceeding.
Reconnecting Facebook
Facebook covers two separate connections: your Facebook Page (used for messaging and reviews) and your Facebook Business and Ad Account (used for running ads). Reconnect each one separately if needed.
Reconnecting Your Facebook Page
- In Settings, open the Integrations tab and find the Facebook Page section.
- Click Reconnect (or Connect Facebook Page if the connection is fully removed).
- A Facebook login window will open. Sign in with the personal Facebook account that has admin access to your practice Page.
- When prompted, make sure to grant all requested permissions. If you skip any permission, the connection will be incomplete.
- Select the correct Facebook Page from the list and confirm.
- The status should update to show a green connected indicator within a few seconds.
Reconnecting Your Facebook Ad Account
- Still in the Integrations tab, find the Facebook Ads section.
- Click Reconnect and log in with the Facebook account that has access to your Business Manager and Ad Account.
- Grant all requested permissions and select the correct Business and Ad Account from the dropdowns.
- Save. Your ad campaigns should resume syncing within a few minutes.
For a step-by-step guide on the initial setup, see Connecting Facebook Business and Ad Account.
Reconnecting Google
Google also has two separate connections: Gmail and Calendar sync, and your Google Business Profile for reviews.
Reconnecting Gmail and Google Calendar
- In Settings, open the Integrations tab and find the Google section.
- Click Reconnect Google.
- Choose the Google account associated with your practice email and calendar.
- Review the permission list carefully and click Allow for all requested scopes. Partial permissions will cause the sync to fail again.
- Once authorized, your inbox sync and two-way calendar sync will resume automatically.
Reconnecting Your Google Business Profile
- In the Integrations tab, find the Google Business Profile section.
- Click Reconnect and sign in with the Google account that owns or manages your Business Profile listing.
- Select the correct location if your account manages more than one listing.
- Save. New reviews and review requests will start flowing through within a few minutes.
If Reconnecting Does Not Fix the Problem
In most cases, reconnecting the account resolves the issue immediately. If you are still seeing errors after reconnecting, try these steps:
- Open Facebook or Google in a separate browser tab and confirm your account is in good standing (no security lockouts or unusual activity alerts).
- Confirm that the account you are using still has admin or owner-level access to the Page, Business Manager, or Business Profile.
- Try the connection from a different browser or in a private/incognito window to rule out browser extension conflicts.
- Disconnect the integration completely, wait 60 seconds, then reconnect from scratch.
Next Steps
Once your integrations are reconnected, it is a good time to confirm the rest of your setup is solid. Check the Integrations Overview to see the full status of every connection at a glance. If you use your Google Calendar to block off personal time so patients cannot book over it, review your two-way calendar sync settings to make sure everything is still syncing the way you expect.
